Permission was given for Dancing Gypsy (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
Harbour Vision (GB), trained by Scott Dixon, did not enter the Parade Ring and went straight to post, due to a replacement girth being required.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Arranmore (GB), trained by Micky Hammond, had arrived at the stable yard for its identification check, whereupon it appeared to show evidence of possible administration of a pinkish substance around the gelding’s mouth.
Micky Hammond’s representative, the Equine Welfare and Integrity Officer and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed.
After hearing evidence from all parties and taking into account that a used Bleader Gard syringe had been found during an inspection of the lorry, which Hammond’s representative acknowledged had inadvertently been given to the gelding on the day of racing, the Stewards were obviously satisfied that Arranmore (GB) had not received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of the race, and ordered that Arranmore (GB) be withdrawn and the gelding be routine tested.
They referred the matter to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Following the race, Oisin Murphy reported that Al Baahy (GB), unplaced, was denied a clear approaching the ½ furlong marker.
Dale Swift reported that he was unable to fully ride out to the line on Covert Legend (GB), placed fourth, due to running onto the heels of the winner, Win Win Power (IRE), in the final strides.
