Turning into the home straight approaching the final fence, Coastguard Station (IRE), placed fourth, moved slightly left-handed at the same time as Finest View (GB), placed second, moved marginally right- handed when challenging to the inside of Coastguard Station (IRE) causing both horses to make contact and a weakening Coastguard Station (IRE) to become slightly unbalanced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Finest View (GB).
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Fringill Dike (IRE), unplaced, and Duke Of Luckley (IRE), unplaced, both lost their right-fore shoe and Sir Tivo (FR), which started second- favourite and was pulled up, bled from the nose.
