Permission was given for Cavern Club (IRE) and Liam Swagger (GB) to both wear a red hood to post.
Knightswood (IRE) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Liam Swagger (GB) and Cavern Club (IRE), both trained by James Owen, appeared to show evidence of possible administration of a substance with a lump present in the region of the left jugular vein.
The Trainer and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed.
James Owen explained that both geldings had been administered with electrolytes the previous day on 3 May 2025, which was verified by a copy of Owen’s veterinary records.
Being satisfied that both geldings had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of racing, the Stewards allowed Liam Swagger (GB) and Cavern Club (IRE) to run and ordered both the geldings to be routine tested.
A report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
On the run to the line, Blindedbythelights (GER), placed second, lugged right-handed away from the whip, giving a slight bump to the winner, Story Horse (GB), but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Following the race, P J McDonald reported that Kihavah (GB), placed fifth, was denied a clear run approximately 1½ furlongs from the line; and the Veterinary Officer reported that Cavern Club (IRE), unplaced, bled from the nose.
