An enquiry was held following a report from the Integrity Officer that a used tube of an electrolyte substance was found during a routine search of a bag belonging to the member of staff accompanying Saturn (IRE), trained by Mrs J Harrington.
The Integrity Officer, the trainer and the trainer’s representative were interviewed, after which the Stewards noted their explanations.
Being satisfied that Saturn (IRE) had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of racing, the Stewards allowed the horse to run and ordered that the colt be routine tested.
Passing the 2 furlong marker, Align The Stars (IRE), unplaced, stepped quickly right-handed, at the same time as Divine Comedy (IRE), placed fifth, improved on its inside, resulting in a weakening Liari (FR), unplaced, being short for room on the rail, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Divine Comedy (IRE).
Following the race, Ryan Moore reported that on the run to the line, Reaching High (IRE), unplaced, was denied a clear run; William Buick reported that Poniros (GB), unplaced, ran too free; and Shane Foley reported that Saturn (IRE), unplaced, stopped quickly.
