Brownstown shows plenty to score for Cromwell
Sindria reaps the benefit of her homework
She ran a very good race on her only run as a two-year-old (seventh in Curragh) and at Naas the ground was probably a bit quick for her, and she ran too free early on. She only finished about four lengths behind the favourite in Naas (in eighth) having done a lot wrong. We’ve spent a lot of time over the last couple of weeks just getting her to relax and settle to enjoy her work. The proof of the pudding was winning there today. She’s by Kodiac out of a Galileo mare and that’s why she came home well there. A good ride from winning jockey.
Finsceal Annie strong over the extended seven
She’s a grand, consistent filly and she was in season the last day (ninth over a mile at this venue). Seven furlongs or a mile is fine, but seven is probably her sweet spot. She’ll come back here again next Thursday all being well. She’s a fun horse for the lads (Legends Galore Syndicate).
Copacabana Sands earns her break after Group 3 victory
Masoun opens up a possible Royal Ascot path
Nine or ten furlongs is probably a good trip for him and Wayne gave him a lovely positive ride. If he gets into Ascot next week in a handicap, he’ll go, as the owners are over, and hopefully we’ll find something for him in the Curragh over Derby weekend.
Rain in Foxrock is music to Shaool's ears
It took us a while to get her to win. She works nicely at home and I’d say the ground was a big help.
Course-specialist Smaoineamh Sile pops up at 14/1
I’m delighted for Peter (Commane, owner) who is a long-standing supporter. We had a half-an-hour chat on the phone whether we were going to run on the ground. She hadn’t run on it much, so we said we’d take a chance. Between myself and Jamie, we said we’d stick to the rail as she leans left anyway. I think she loved it running on her own — she’s very genuine. She’s entered here again next week, and we’ll have to have a go. She loves it around here.
Deuteronomy has a taste for winning now
I have to thank Conor O’Brien, a vet down in Cork, who did a job on a soft palate and said I’d have a different horse. It improved him greatly from the start of this year. I always thought he was a horse that would go on any ground and is an honest little horse, but something was catching him.
