THE RIPON RACECOURSE LADIES' DERBY HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) (FOR FEMALE AMATEUR JOCKEYS) (Special Rider Conditions) Permission was given for Arranmore (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
Leaving the stalls, One Million Dreams (FR), unplaced, jumped left-handed carrying Yurinov (GB), unplaced, off its intended line at the same time as Jack Langley (GB), placed third, jumped right-handed causing Apache Eagle (GB), which later unseated its rider, to be short of room and peck slightly.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and had not improved the placing of Jack Langley (GB).
Miss Serena Brotherton, the rider of Apache Eagle (GB) had fallen approaching the bend leaving the back straight.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the incident.
It was found that the incident was accidental and was caused by Apache Eagle (GB) taking a false step causing the gelding to make contact with the rail and then after jinked left-handed causing Miss Brotherton to become unbalanced and fall.
