The Stewards enquired into possible interference after the last hurdle involving Horendus Hulabaloo, ridden by M.A. Enright, placed first and Ibsen, ridden by D.E. Splaine, placed third, where it appeared Ibsen ran short of room on the rail. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards made no alteration to the Judge's placing. The Stewards however found that M.A. Enright was in breach of Rule 214 by riding carelessly and having taken his good record into account, the Stewards cautioned him regarding his future responsibilities in this regard. . R. Loughran, rider of Leos Gift trained by John Joseph Murphy, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount made a noise and pulled up. The Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Feenakilmeedy, ridden by R.J. Jones, and trained by C.Byrnes. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer's representative concerned. R.J. Jones, stated that his instructions were to jump off three quarters way back in the field and hold onto the horse and get home as how she would handle the testing going was unknown. In the race, he waited with her as instructed, she made a mistake at the third last hurdle, gave a heave and gurgled in-running. In the straight she ran on well to finish second. He felt he had taken every permissable measure to obtain his best possible placing. Derry White, trainer's representative confirmed the instructions given. He stated that this mare has had wind problems and was operated on for her wind. He expressed himself happy with the ride given. The Stewards also received a report from the Turf Club Veterinary Officer who stated that this mare trotted soundly when examined but returned with a diffuse swelling over the front aspect of her right knee. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards noted the explanation offered. However regarding the report which emerged during the course of the enquiry regarding the horse gurgling in- running, the Stewards referred the rider and trainer to the Referrals Committee for further investigation under Rule 213. .
