THE EASTER FESTIVAL ON SALE NOW CLASSIFIED STAKES (CLASS 6) Permission was given for Poetic Jack (GB) to go early to the start.
An enquiry was held to consider two pieces of interference approaching the final furlong involving Flicka's Girl (GB), placed second, ridden by Paddy Bradley; Hannah's Return (GB), placed third, ridden by Jack Nicholls and Tilsworth Ony Ta (GB), unplaced, ridden by Lewis Edmunds.
In the first incident, the interference was found to be accidental in that HANNAH’S RETURN shifted quickly left-handed before being corrected by Nicholls, at the same time as FLICKA’S GIRL attempted to improve into a legitimate gap, this resulted in Bradley having to switch right-handed off heels, which in turn caused Edmunds to be carried off his intended line.
In the second incident, Nicholls was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as having corrected his mount from hanging left-handed, Nicholls allowed HANNAH’S RETURN to then drift right-handed without correction, carrying FLICKA’S GIRL off its intended line.
The winner Henry Tudor (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Lingfield on the 29 January 2026 where the gelding finished last of nine runners beaten by 11 ½ lengths.
It was noted that the representative of Mark Hoad could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Henry Tudor (GB) was routine tested.
Magic Fluke (IRE), trained by J R Jenkins, was reluctant to race, losing many lengths causing the gelding to be uncompetitive.
As the gelding had also been reluctant to race at Chelmsford on 8 January 2026, Jenkins was informed that any future similar behaviour from Magic Fluke (IRE) may result in the gelding being reported to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority.
Following the race, Isobelle Chalmers reported that Little Miss Magic (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away.
