Inside the final furlong, Nine Elms (USA), placed fifth, shifted marginally left-handed as Daafy (USA), placed second, shifted slightly right-handed resulting in the geldings making contact and Daafy (USA) continuing to shift right-handed despite the rider’s best efforts causing Nine Elms (USA) to become short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Daafy (USA).
Following the race, Lewis Edmunds reported that Nine Elms (USA), placed fifth, suffered interference on the run to the line.
George Wood reported that Kingwell (GB), unplaced, stopped quickly and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
