THE MIDNITE A NEXT GENERATION BETTING APP HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) (Rider Restricted Race) (DIV I) Annandale (IRE) ran yesterday, 16 February 2026, at Wolverhampton finishing sixth of eight runners.
Having been examined by the Veterinary Officer, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
Entering the home-straight, Nakatomi (IRE), unplaced, shifted quickly right-handed having been corrected from hanging left-handed and bumped Black Smoke (IRE), unplaced.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching the two-furlong marker involving, Black Smoke (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Jonny Peate and Nakatomi (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Rhys Elliott.
Elliott was suspended for 4 days for improper riding as he angled his horse right-handed off the heels of Itsgottobefun, placed third, when Black Smoke (IRE) to his outside was directly upsides him and it therefore ought to have been obvious that such a manoeuvre would result in interference to Black Smoke (IRE), with Peate being moved off his intended line as a result after receiving a bump from Nakatomi (IRE).
Following the race, Rhys Elliott reported that Nakatomi (IRE), unplaced, hung left-handed and Gina Mangan reported that over the concluding stages she dropped her right rein on Moon Over The Sea (GB), placed fifth, resulting in her being unable to ride out fully for fourth place.
