THE FOLLOW MATCHBOOK ON X HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) Permission was given for Gretna Dreams (IRE) to be mounted in the chute; for Bug Boy (IRE) to go early to post and be mounted in the chute.
On the run to the line, Clipsham Noble (IRE), placed third, drifted slightly right-handed at the same time as the winner, Bug Boy (IRE), shifted marginally left-handed causing the rider of Foinix (GB), placed fourth, to ease for several strides.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Bug Boy (IRE) or Clipsham Noble (IRE).
The winner, Bug Boy (IRE) appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Bath on 15 July 2026, where the gelding finished seventh of eight runners, beaten 8 ¾ lengths.
The representative of Tony Newcome’s explanation that Bug Boy (IRE) had improved for returning to Brighton where the gelding had won previously, was noted.
Bug Boy (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, the representative of Tony Caroll reported that Fitzmaurice (IRE), unplaced, ran flat.
