Permission was given for Renoir (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding LAND GIRL’S LUCK (IRE) ridden by Mr Jack Wilmot and trained by Max Comley, which raced at the back of the field for the most part of the race, before becoming slightly detached at the end of the back straight and turning into the home straight where she then ran on, appearing to be tenderly handled from the back of the last hurdle to finish fifth of nine runners, beaten by 9¼ lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
Being a 7lb Claimer, Wilmot was accompanied by a senior rider.
The Veterinary Officer examined the mare post-race and had nothing to report.
The rider stated that his instructions were to drop the mare in and get her to travel comfortably before passing horses late on in the race.
Wilmot explained that the mare had a tendency to be temperamental, that he knows her well from riding her regularly at home, and that she does not respond well to being ridden too vigorously, he further stated that the mare would appreciate a step up in trip in the future.
Wilmot’s explanation was noted.
