She always went well last year but went a bit wrong behind. I think she was just growing and is one of those big, rangy fillies. D.P. McDonogh, rider of Play It Again Zaam, trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was impeded by the winner

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages involving Play It Again Zaam, ridden by D.P

McDonogh, placed fifth, and Lady Onyx, ridden by B.M. Coen, placed first, where it appeared that Lady Onyx drifted into the path of Play It Again Zaam. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D.P. McDonogh stated that although he could not fill a gap, his mount was intimidated by the drift of Lady Onyx. B.M. Coen stated that his mount ran very green on what was her first run and both changed legs and drifted inwards before being corrected. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
