Permission was given for School For Scandal (FR) to wear a red hood to post.
After an initial false start, the start was effected successfully on the second attempt.
However, having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
It was noted that the right cheekpiece became loose on Brother Boris (GB), placed fourth, rounding the bend on the final circuit and was removed by the rider Tom Cannon.
The cheekpiece was inspected and as it was found to be in a serviceable condition, no further action was taken.
The performance of Dark Mix (GB), which was pulled up, was considered.
The representative of Pam Sly could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance other than Paul O’Brien’s report that Dark Mix (GB) was never travelling.
The Veterinary Officer examined Dark Mix (GB) post-race during routine testing and further reported the gelding to be lame on its left-hind.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Bring The Action (IRE) and School For Scandal (FR), which were both pulled up, had both bled from the nose.
