D.J. O'Keeffe, rider of Magic Piper trained by Thomas Gibney, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount burst a blood vessel
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Magic Piper, trained by Thomas Gibney, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to have blood at the nostrils post race
The Stewards requested a report from Philip Fenton, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Secret Cargo, placed first, as compared with its recent run at Kilbeggan on the eighth of August when finishing eighth of nine finishers. Cathal Persse, Authorised representative of Philip Fenton, reported that the first time application of blinkers, the drop in class of the race and the falls of three form horses were contributing factors to the improved performance. Having considered the explanation, the Stewards noted the content of the report.
