An enquiry was held to consider interference on the run to the line involving the winner, King Of Speed (IRE), ridden by Billy Loughnane and Pitney (IRE), placed second, ridden by William Carson.
The interference was found to be accidental in that when Loughnane was correcting King Of Speed (IRE) from lugging slightly left-handed, the gelding had then shifted right and made light contact with Pitney (IRE), briefly moving that gelding off its intended line.
The performance of Rainwater (GB), which finished last of twelve runners beaten by 17¼ lengths, was considered.
It was noted that the representative of Richard Fahey could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance, other than confirming the post-race report from Harry Russell, that Rainwater (GB) was unsuited by racing wide throughout from stall 13.
Following the race, Stevie Donohoe reported that Cloch Nua (GB), unplaced, was slowly away.
