Formscan By Alan Magee - A fascinating renewal of this Grade 1 event with CAPE GENTLEMAN getting the vote. The Emmet Mullins-trained gelding is a useful staying handicapper on the Flat having won the Cesarewitch in fine style at the Curragh and there was plenty to like about his hurdle debut at Punchestown. The son of Champs Elysees showed a slick jumping technique and, while the bare form of that 2m4f maiden is nothing to get excited about, he looks an exciting prospect. Willie Mullins has a really strong four-pronged challenge with riding arrangements suggesting Gaillard Du Mesnil is preferred. The form of his course maiden win at Christmas has worked out particularly well. Gentlemansgame won a Cork maiden in runaway fashion and has loads of potential, while Ashdale Bob and Fakiera are others to consider having filled the first two places in a 2m4f Navan Grade 2.
