Formscan By Gary Carson - SPREWELL takes a drop in grade here and can get back to winning ways on softer ground. The Churchill colt has been highly tried this season with two Derby runs, finishing fourth at Epsom, and he was last seen in the Irish Champion Stakes. His best performances came on softer ground at the start of the season, particularly when winning the Derby Trial at Leopardstown, and he hasn't looked totally at home on faster surfaces, especially in the Irish Derby. This could be a nice confidence booster now. Layfayette is top-rated in the field and is an obvious danger. He was a fine third in Group 3 company at Leopardstown last time having won at the same level previously. Boogie Woogie has been knocking on the door in stakes company since winning her maiden and could be placed material here.
