Going - Soft To Heavy (Soft In Places). Overcast, cold

Formscan By Eamonn Murphy - We have hype all too often about races that don't justify it but here's a contest that everyone will want to see. Defy Logic looks a hell of a prospect but I just can't see him repeating what he's done at Fairyhouse twice – against this class of opposition. Given his physique, maybe Don Cossack won't fulfil his full potential until he tackles a fence next term. Moscow Mannon has plenty of fans and justifiably so. Yet he has a bit of a break to overcome for just his second hurdles start and after an interrupted preparation today might just be too much too soon. That leaves us principally with ANNIE POWER. She's made for this game but she has a lovely pedigree and could have run on the level – of course she started off with Jim Bolger. The chestnut daughter of Shirocco is all class – unbeaten in five - and though undoubtedly well up in class now, it would be a brave observer than would dismiss her chances of taking the upgrade in her stride. A nice 8Ib age and sex allowance from the apparent big three, certainly helps in the argument for an Annie Power win, as does the brilliance of the men in her corner.
