Formscan By Michael Graham - Out Sam is sure to be popular after winning the Cork National over three and a half miles in early November. On the back of that, he was a 9/1 chance for the Troytown last weekend where he finished fifth of 25 without landing a blow. This is an easier assignment but he does have top weight and a quick turnaround to overcome. VELOCITY BOY comes with risks but his claims are hard to ignore if he puts it all together. He was in the process of running a cracking race in the Cork National when he fell two out after getting on terms. In April last year he still had a chance at 40/1 in a Grade One when he jinked and unseated at the penultimate fence. He has ability and if he get into a rhythm for Denis O'Regan over this extreme distance he might just show it, although he would prefer a drop of rain. It would not be surprising to see the Noel Meade pair of Major Destination and Une Lavandiere get involved. Undressed, Oathkeeper and Rogue Angel are all more than capable of taking the honours.
