Formscan By Donal Murphy - This looks a wide open contest and I'm going to take a chance on FORTY FOOT TOM. The Daniel Miley trained gelding ran a fine race to finish sixth behind Mallowney at the Festival over the course last month, and taking a step back in grade now he should give a good account of himself. He will appreciate the quick ground and the trip of two mile six won't be of concern considering he easily won a novice over two mile five. Aces And Kings was bidding for a hat-trick of wins at Kilbeggan last time out, and he was still travelling well in front when falling five out. He can be expected to run well, while Ross Na Righ, Lord Alfie, Raise Hell and For A Finish are others to consider in this competitive heat.
An extended handicap steeplechase for five yrs old and upwards (116 = 11st 10lb) Weights - Top weight in the original handicap shall not be less than 11st 10lbPenalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap to carry 4lb extra for each such steeplechase won. Any horse rated above 116 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 116 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any five year old rated above 116 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
