THE RASE EQUINE CONDITIONAL JOCKEYS' HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 5) Luke Scott, the rider of Estacas (GER), placed third, beaten by ½ length, had appeared to ride less vigorously when on the run to the line.
After being interviewed and shown recordings of the incident, Scott’s explanation that having made the running, his mount had weakened significantly inside the final ½ furlong.
He added, that in his opinion, he had never stopped riding and had obtained the best possible placing, having been beaten by a fast-finishing Little Ledgend (IRE) into second place.
His explanation was noted.
Following the race, Ellis Collier reported that Zuul (GB), placed fifth, was unsuited by the paucity of hurdles in the race due to the omission of the two flights in the home straight as a result of the low sun.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Knacker Trapper (IRE), unplaced, bled from the nose.
