Permission was given for Green Dame (IRE) to wear a red hood to post and for WHAT’S ON SECOND to be mounted on the course.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final two furlongs involving Star Of Albion (GB), placed second, ridden by Cieren Fallon and Green Dame (IRE), placed third, ridden by Pat Cosgrave.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Star Of Albion (GB)’s placing, although Green Dame (IRE) was carried off its intended line and forced to switch from approaching one and a half furlongs out, she appeared to lose minimal ground and momentum.
The Stewards could not be satisfied that, with an uninterrupted run to the finish, Green Dame (IRE), would have finished in front of Star Of Albion (GB), and considered that the ground and momentum lost was less than the distance of ¾ of a length between them, with Star Of Albion (GB) going away at the line.
The Stewards deemed the interference to be accidental as Star Of Albion (GB) had hung left-handed, despite its rider’s best efforts, taking Green Dame (IRE), off its intended line and forcing Cosgrave to switch around that runner.
Following the race, Tom Queally reported that Irish Fusilier (IRE), unplaced, was slowly away and Dougie Costello reported that Kilkenny Warrior (IRE), unplaced, was also slowly away.
