THE CHAPEL DOWN APPRENTICE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) Permission was given for We Ride At Dawn (GB) to wear a red hood to post and be mounted in the chute.

We Ride At Dawn (GB) unseated Harry Vigors on the way to post.

Having been checked by the Doctor, Vigors was deemed fit to race.

An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final half furlong involving the winner, We Ride At Dawn (GB), ridden by Harry Vigors and Raintown (IRE), placed second, ridden by Kyle McHugh.

The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of We Ride At Dawn (GB) as although this filly had drifted right-handed across the track towards Raintown (IRE) which had been racing down the middle of the track, and appearing to intimidate this gelding off its intended line, there was no contact between the two runners and no loss of momentum with We Ride At Dawn (GB) always appearing to hold Raintown (IRE) to the line with the winning distance being a neck.

The Stewards therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.

Vigors was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift-right handed, using his whip once in the left hand before putting both hands on the reins to correct the filly.

Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Grey Fox (IRE), placed third, lost its left-fore shoe.
