THE NEW INN, ALPHINGTON, EXETER HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 5) Permission was given for Taritino (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood.
Green Sky (IRE) was kicked at the start by another runner.
Having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon, the mare was deemed fit to race.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving Rangatira Jack (GB), placed third, ridden by James Best and This Sway (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Tom Broughton.
The Stewards considered that the interference had improved Rangatira Jack (GB)’s placing as he moved left-handed, taking This Sway (GB) off his intended line, giving him a bump and as it was a diminishing nose on the line the placings were revised as follows: THIRD – This Sway (GB), FOURTH – Rangatira Jack (GB).
Best was cautioned for careless riding as he allowed his mount drift left-handed without sufficient correction, causing This Sway (GB) to receive a bump and be carried off his racing line.
The winner Mr Jukebox (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Wincanton on 23 March 2026 where the gelding finished eighth of twelve runners, beaten 39 ½ lengths.
It was noted that the representative of Warren Greatrex could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Mr Jukebox (IRE) was routine tested.
