At the request of the Raceday Stewards, S.W. Flanagan, rider of Crescent Moon (FR), trained by Gavin Cromwell, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount travelled well but found little in the closing stages
Mr J.L. Gleeson, rider of Liberated Light, trained by John E. & Thomas Kiely, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount never travelled
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Liberated Light, trained by John E. & Thomas Kiely, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal
D. King, rider of Ben Purple, trained by John Patrick Ryan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount didn't want to jump off
The Raceday Stewards interviewed John Patrick Ryan, trainer of Ben Purple, who was very slow to jump off in this race and pulled up after jumping the first. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who stated that the elastic girths which were used could possibly have upset his charge but added he does not behave like this at home
Having considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards suspended Ben Purple from running for 30 days in accordance with Rule 14(iii).
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards that have not won a hurdle race before 5th May 2024 (110 = 11st 12lbs) Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
