Permission was given for Azucena (IRE) to go early to post and for Okami (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood.
The winner, Okami (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newcastle on 5 December 2025, where the gelding finished last of ten runners, beaten by 12 lengths.
Paul Midgley’s explanation that Okami (IRE) had benefitted from a drop in trip from 6 furlongs to 5 furlongs and was better suited by being ridden more prominently on this occasion, was noted.
Okami (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Kaiya Fraser reported that Shatin Venture (IRE), placed third, reared as the stalls opened and was slowly away as a result.
