He just had the patience to give him the time. We found out late in the year that he is allergic to a lot of stuff that horses shouldn't be allergic to like hay. He is on a special vaccine now that seems to have done the trick. We thought we would have him back for Galway and we probably shouldn't have run him. We were training him and we just ran him. He does like the surface but I don't think it is essential, he had a great run in a premier handicap in Cork last year. I'd love to win the Lincoln with him, I think he could be good enough. I don't think soft ground will bother him. If I do that, I'll probably do a little tidy up on his wind after Christmas. Paul W Flynn, trainer

J.A. Powell, rider of Barbapapa, trained by Henry de Bromhead, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left up the straight
The Raceday Stewards requested a report from Paul W. Flynn, trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Cheers Again (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent form. The trainer reported that other than giving the horse a break he could offer no explanation for the return to form. Having considered the report, the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation offered
The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident approximately one and a half furlongs from the finish involving Barbapapa, ridden by J.A. Powell and Cheers Again (GB), ridden by J. Cleary, where it appeared Cheers Again (GB) had to check. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
The IHRB Veterinary Officer examined Not Forgotten, trained by M. Halford & T. Collins, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
