THE BET £10 GET £40 WITH BETMGM HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference inside the final ½ furlong, involving Wisetanck (IRE), placed third, ridden by Finley Marsh and Solar Invincible (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Billy Loughnane.
Kieran O’Neill, the rider of the winner, Mister Moet (IRE) was interviewed but found not to be involved in the incident.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Wisetanck (IRE)’s placing as although Loughnane had to steady his mount for a number of strides before the line, Wisetanck (IRE) always appeared to be holding Solar Invincible (IRE) with the margin being ½ length, the Stewards could not be satisfied that Solar Invincible (IRE) would’ve finished in front of Wisetanck (IRE) with an uninterrupted run to the line and therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
Marsh was suspended for 2 days for careless riding as he allowed his mount to drift left-handed with his whip in the incorrect hand causing Loughnane to take a check.
