He ran well at Leopardstown (in June), but I was a little disappointed with him the last day (at Down Royal on Friday). This looked a weak enough race, so we said we'd throw him back in again. He'll be too low (rating) to get into Galway, so we'll look for something else over a mile and a quarter or a mile and a half, maybe somewhere like Sligo might suit. Terry is a good rider and was with me for a year and a half. He was a little bit homesick (for Limerick), so he's a bit closer to home now with Danny Murphy on the Curragh. He's improving and he has followed the same path as Wesley Joyce.
Arwen now Galway bound
She's been a great mare and that's five she's won for us. It's the first time Billy has ridden her. We wanted to be a bit closer, maybe halfway back, but she missed a beat at the start. That's the thing with these top jockeys, though. They can go to Plan B or Plan C and still come out on top, and he duly produced her at the right time. Billy has been very lucky for us in these colours, with the likes of Barretstown and Trump Card. I asked Billy what do we have, because she's so versatile that I'm still not entirely sure what her best trip is!. I wasn't sure about today's trip and thought she might prefer it a bit softer, but she's so genuine and I'd love to have a few more like her. She hasn't won at Galway, but has run well there a few times and loves the hustle and bustle, and hopefully that will get her into one of the '70' handicaps, either over seven or a mile and half-a-furlong.
War conquers Truth
He's probably been the dearest horse we've ever had and has been overall disappointing, so I'm delighted to get his head in front. He probably had an inflated rating from coming third in the Dante, and has come down about 20 pounds since we got him. He probably parked a bit in front, and was waiting for them to come at him. He minds himself a bit and is a little bit soft, a bit cowardly. I doubt he'll go to Galway, he didn't enjoy the hustle and bustle there last year. We'll look for flatter tracks like Killarney and Listowel, if we can find suitable races for him there. He'd probably stay two miles on the Flat, and we'll go back hurdling with him later in the year.
