The interference was found to be accidental as, Thundering Breeze (IRE) improved onto and Lewis was forced to switch his mount right-handed to avoid the heels of SHABAB (FR), at the same time as Wright had switched his mount right-handed to the outside of Lewis to continue his run, causing Laurentia (IRE) to be taken off its intended line and become short for room, and in doing so, resulted in Carver, the rider of a weakening Sunset In Paris (IRE) having to steady his mount and Sir Patchy (GB) receiving a slight bump.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that Fighting Poet (IRE), unplaced, had lost its left- fore shoe.
