Permission was given for Westlain (IRE) to go early and be mounted in the chute, and for Wolf Rayet (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Jumping the first hurdle, Cinammon Coco (IRE), unplaced, jumped sharply right-handed bumping Westlain (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
It was noted that Cinammon Coco (IRE), unplaced, was badly hampered by the fall of Matiwo (FR), at the fifth flight.
Shortly after jumping the second last hurdle, Cinammon Coco (IRE), unplaced, shifted right-handed resulting in the improving Wolf Rayet (IRE), placed fourth, becoming briefly short for room in between Cinammon Coco (IRE) and Westlain (IRE), unplaced.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference rounding the bend into the home straight involving Crooked Path (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Johnathan Burke, WINSTONE JUNIOR (IRE), placed second, ridden by Harry Cobden, and Wolf Rayet (IRE), placed fourth, ridden by Robert Dunne.
The Stewards considered that the interference was accidental as rounding the bend Winston Junior (IRE) and Wolf Rayet (IRE) attempted to improve their positions around Crooked Path (IRE) which was being ridden to obtain the stands-side rail; this resulted in Winston Junior (IRE) becoming briefly short of room when that rail came back out slightly, and consequently Crooked Path (IRE) was short for room as it weakened on the outside of Wolf Rayet (IRE), whose line at that stage was being dictated by One Horse Town (IRE).
Following the race, Harry Cobden reported that Winston Junior (IRE), placed second, ran too free.
