THE VIRGIN BET A GOOD BET HANDICAP HURDLE RACE (CLASS 2) (GBB RACE) Permission was given for The Four Sixes (IRE) to wear a red hood to post and for Double Powerful (IRE) to go early to post.
After an initial false start, the start was effected successfully on the second attempt.
However, having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
The winner Intosomethinggood (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Doncaster on 24 January where the gelding was pulled up.
Nigel Twiston-Davies’ explanation that the gelding appreciated the quicker ground on this occasion, which was officially described as Good, Good to Soft in places and benefitted from the drop in class, was noted.
Intosomethinggood (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, the Veterinary Officer reported that North Lodge (IRE), unplaced, bled from the nose and The Four Sixes, unplaced, lost its right-fore shoe.
