THE DUBAI DUTY FREE HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 2) (GBBPLUS RACE) Permission was given for Capall Rasa (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood and to be mounted on the chute and for Old Harrovian (GB), MARVEILLEUX LAPIN (IRE) and Almekarem (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approximately one furlong out involving the winner, Balzac (GER), ridden by Ryan Moore and Paddy The Squire (GB), placed second, ridden by Andrew Mullen.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Balzac (GER)’s placing as Paddy The Squire (GB) appeared to lose no momentum and minimal ground as a result of being taken marginally off its intended line and therefore ordered that the placings remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental as Balzac (GER) had shied away from the furlong marker before being quickly corrected by Moore, moving Paddy The Squire (GB) slightly off its intended line.
Following the race, William Carver reported that Theory Of Tides (GB), unplaced, hung left-handed in the straight and Luke Morris reported that Almekarem (IRE), unplaced, hung right-handed.
