Permission was given for Eddie My Eagle (IRE) to be mounted in the chute and go early to post.
An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Eddie My Eagle (IRE), ridden by Tom Bellamy and trained by Dan Horsford, which was initially settled at the rear of the field before running freely for a period of time to finish fourth, beaten 10¼ lengths.
The rider was interviewed and shown recordings of the race.
Bellamy’s explanation was that his instructions were to settle the gelding at the back of the field as it had run too free on its previous start, having initially run freely, which he reported at scales, he was then able to settle the gelding in the back straight and let Eddie My Eagle (IRE) recover from his early exertions, before asking the gelding for an effort turning in, to finish a running on fourth.
The Stewards noted his explanation.
The Veterinary Officer examined Eddie My Eagle (IRE) post-race and had nothing to report.
Following the race, Stephen Allen reported that Haderach (GB), which was pulled up, had made a respiratory noise.
