Permission was given for Meleagant (FR) to wear a red hood to post and for Queen Of Change (IRE) to go early to post and be mounted on the chute.
Rounding the first bend, Pyrrhic Dancer (IRE), placed sixth, clipped the heels of the winner, Arcadian Friend (GB), causing Pyrrhic Dancer (IRE) to stumble and bump Wannabe Betsy (IRE), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The apparent improvement in form of the winner, Arcadian Friend (GB), which had never previously been placed, was considered.
Sir Mark Prescott Bt’s comments that the gelding had improved with racing and benefitted from the step up in trip to 1 mile 4 furlongs from 1 mile were noted.
Arcadian Friend (GB) was routine tested.
The performance of Shut Up And Dance (IRE), which finished placed fifth, was considered.
Jamie Osborne could offer no explanation for the filly’s performance other than that Nicola Currie had reported that Shut Up And Dance (IRE) had no more to give.
The Veterinary Officer reported that Shut Up And Dance (IRE) had lost its right fore shoe.
The performance of Wannabe Betsy (IRE), which finished unplaced, was considered.
David Menuisier could offer no explanation for the filly’s performance.
Following the race, Kieran Shoemark reported that Meleagant (FR), unplaced, stopped quickly and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
