Leaving the stalls, Combustion (GB), which dead heated for first, jumped right-handed at the same time as Match Anthem (IRE), placed fourth, jumped left-handed, resulting in MAVERIC’S MAGIC (IRE), unplaced, and Mumcat (GB), unplaced, being badly hampered.
After viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Combustion (GB) or Match Anthem (IRE).
Inside the final half furlong, Agent Mayfair (GB), placed third, lugged slightly right-handed at the same time as Back Tomorrow (GB), which dead heated for first, edged left-handed resulting in the rider of Match Anthem (IRE), placed fourth, taking a precautionary check when short of room.

The apparent improvement in form of the dead-heating winner, Combustion (GB), which had never previously been placed, was considered.
The representative of Chelsea Banham was interviewed.
His comments that Combustion (GB) had been an immature type that has taken plenty of time to strengthen up and develop, whilst also benefitting from dropping in grade to a 0-50 classified stakes on this occasion were noted, and the gelding was routine tested.
