THE GOLD STAR GALLOP HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 5) Permission was given for Acclaimed Freedom (GB) to wear a red hood to post and for Charlie Boyo (IRE) to go early.
An enquiry was held to consider interference approaching two furlongs out involving, Emperor Caradoc (FR), placed second, ridden by David Nolan; Zarinca (GB), placed fifth, ridden by Paul Mulrennan and Beyond Borders (IRE), unplaced, ridden by William Pyle.
The interference was found to be accidental as in a tightly packed field Emperor Caradoc (FR) lugged right-handed despite the riders best efforts, which resulted in ZARNICA being moved onto the weaking Beyond Borders (IRE) causing slight interference to both horses.
An enquiry was held to consider interference on the run to the line involving, the winner, Charlie Boyo (IRE), ridden by Georgia Dobie; Macanudo (IRE), placed third, ridden by M P Sheehy and Emperor Caradoc (FR), placed second, ridden by David Nolan.
Dobie was suspended for 4 days for careless riding as she allowed her mount to shift left-handed without timely correction, causing Macanudo (IRE) to be short of room and the rider to take a significant check, which resulted in Emperor Caradoc (FR) receiving a bump.
The winner, Charlie Boyo (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Windsor, on 8 June 2026, where the gelding finished ninth of ten runners, beaten 8 ¼ lengths.
The representative of Clive Cox's explanation that Charlie Boyo (IRE) had benefited from being ridden more patiently on this occasion, was noted.
