THE ROBERT DYAS HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 4) Permission was given for BALON D’OR to be mounted in the chute and go early to post and for Ancient Times (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
The winner, Ancient Times (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Newmarket on 19 June 2026 where the gelding finished thirteenth of sixteen runners, beaten 15 lengths.
It was noted that the representative of Harry Eustace could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Ancient Times (GB) was routine tested.
An enquiry was held to consider interference 4 ½ furlongs out involving Twirler (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Paddy Bradley, Acclaimed Freedom (GB), unplaced, ridden by Neil Callan and King Of Chaos (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Rhys Clutterbuck.
Tyler Heard, the rider of BALON D’OR, unplaced, was interviewed and found not to be involved.
Bradley was suspended for 5 days for careless riding as he moved left-handed when insufficiently clear of Acclaimed Freedom (GB), causing Callan to severely check and switch across heels, resulting in his mount stumbling slightly and furthermore taking Clutterbuck markedly off his intended line.
Following the race, Tom Queally reported that Rage Of Thunder (IRE), placed third, was slowly away.
