See also » Unique Journey back to winning ways at the Curragh I’m delighted with the run because he’s a three-year-old. He had a four-year-old beside him and he’s a big strong horse that Gerrit’s Gem,. He ran a cracker in the Bold Lad, and he hadn’t run in three months because of the hard ground in the summer. He’s a good horse and I’ll consider entering him for York next Saturday, there is a £100,000 handicap. If he got heavy ground again he’d go. He’s in the October Sale. The owners want to buy a couple of yearlings so I said if we got a few quid for him we’d buy a couple of yearlings. Daniel James Murphy, trainer
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Jon Riggens, trained by Edward Lynam, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal
R.P. Whelan, rider of I Bid You Ajou (FR), trained by Mark Fahey, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount fly leaped from the stalls
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the early stages of this race involving Unique Journey, ridden by S. Foley, placed first, Jon Riggens, ridden by B.M. Coen, unplaced, Laugh A Minute (GB), ridden by C.D
Hayes, placed fourth, and Dmaniac (GB), ridden by M.W Hassett, placed third, where it appeared Jon Riggens ran short of room. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. S. Foley stated that his mount is less than straightforward and was quite awkward due to the very steady pace. B. M. Coen stated that things got tight and he had to sit for a stride. C. D. Hayes stated that he did not contribute to any interference. M. W. Hassett stated that his mount took a keen hold and he switched off heels. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
The Raceday Stewards reviewed the start of this race where it appeared that stall number three opened ahead of the other stalls. Having viewed the recording of the incident, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that Verhoyen (GB), ridden by R.C. Colgan had struck the stall gates with his chest as they were opening, that no material advantage was gained by Verhoyen (GB) and they therefore took no further action.
