He’s not the same on soft ground. He ran a cracker in it last year to finish third and was 8lb lighter this year. We were hoping he’d put his best foot forward and if he did, we thought he’d be thereabouts. Six furlongs is his trip. He doesn’t get seven and he’s not sharp enough for five. Following a report from the IHRB Veterinary Officer, the Raceday Stewards enquired into the circumstances surrounding Go Athletico (FR), trained by Adrian McGuinness, being presented to an IHRB official with what appeared to be an active skin allergy. Evidence was heard from the trainer and the Senior IHRB Veterinary Officer Lynn Hillyer. In his evidence Adrian McGuinness said his charge suffers from very sensitive skin and regularly breaks out in a rash. He added that the rash may be the result of shampoo or a recent change in hay. The Raceday Stewards also received a veterinary cert from the trainer's veterinary surgeon after the horse was presented for examination and the trainer confirmed the veterinary surgeon had not seen the animal today. Having considered the evidence, which included video and photographic images, the Raceday Stewards withdrew Go Athlethico in accordance with the provisions of Rule 148 (xi) A and took no further action
C.D. Hayes, rider of Carla Ridge, trained by Eddie & Patrick Harty, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was badly hampered before halfway
W.J. Lee, rider of Keke (GB), trained by Edward Lynam, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that he had to take a check two furlongs out
J.A. Heffernan, rider of Betsen (GB), trained by Jack W. Davison, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount received pressure from his outside and had to check
Cieren Fallon, rider of Moltophino, trained by John Andrew Kinsella, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung badly left throughout
K.G. Kennedy, rider of Sarahmae, trained by Denis Gerard Hogan, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount had no luck in running
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the straight involving Carla Ridge, ridden by C.D. Hayes, unplaced, Betsen (GB), ridden by J.A. Heffernan, unplaced, Sarahmae, ridden by K.G. Kennedy, unplaced, and Jon Riggens, ridden by M.W Hassett, unplaced, where it appeared interference may have occurred. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. C.D. Hayes said he ran short of room and had to take a severe check. J.A. Heffernan said the interference was caused by the main field making their way towards the stands side rail causing several horses on the rail to get tight. K.G. Kennedy said he was carried across by the main group and had to check. M.W
Hassett said he had to check when it got tight. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found K.G. Kennedy was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly and having considered his record in this regard (second offence), they suspended him for four racedays
R. Elliott, rider of Kodiac Thriller, trained by Mark Walford (in GB), reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount hung left throughout
P. McGettigan, rider of Tropical Retreat, trained by Thomas Mullins, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount jumped awkwardly
A.J. Slattery, rider of Varshini, trained by J.A.Stack, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that he had to check at halfway
M.W Hassett, rider of Jon Riggens, trained by Edward Lynam, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that he had to check one furlong from the stalls and got no run in the straight.
An extended handicap for three years old and upwards that are EBF eligible and that have run three or more times under any Rules of Racing up to and including 1st September, 2025, at least one of those runs having been on or after 1st August, 2024 (105 = 10st) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
