The Long Mile never won a hurdle race but, in saying that, he was placed in a few good hurdle races. . This lad always showed plenty and he’s by the right sire too. The Raceday Stewards enquired into the apparent improvement in form of Thankyouforthedays, trained by J.P.Dempsey, placed first, compared with his form in his three previous runs. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned who said his was happy with his first and third runs but the second run was disappointing. He added in his opinion the drop in grade from maiden hurdles to a low grade handicap is what has brought about the apparent improvement in form. Evidence was also heard from Mr. M. Weedon, I.H.R.B. Handicapper who outlined the horse's profile and said today's run is a significant improvement on his three starts in maiden hurdles. Having considered the matter the Raceday Stewards noted the explanation of the trainer.
An extended handicap hurdle for four years old and upwards rated 0-100 Penalties - Winner of a hurdle race after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each hurdle race won.
