THE ODDSCHECKER FREE BETS NOVICES' HURDLE RACE (CLASS 4) (Novices' Championship Hurdle Series Qualifier) (DIV I (GBB RACE) Permission was given for Babychino (IRE) to go early to post and for Ionian (IRE), Lemon Leaf (IRE), Leo Wood (FR) and Road To Wembley (GB) to wear red hoods to post.
Jumping the second last hurdle, Road To Wembley (GB), placed second, jumped left-handed, giving a bump to Wondering Why (IRE), unplaced, which in turn hampered King Al (GB), unplaced, who gave a bump to Leo Wood (FR), placed fourth, who was on the inside, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Road To Wembley (GB).
The performance of Wondering Why (IRE), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was considered.
It was noted that Ben Pauling could offer no explanation for the gelding’s performance.
The Veterinary Officer examined Wondering Why (IRE) post-race during routine testing and had nothing to report.
