After an initial false start, the start was effected successfully on the second attempt.
However, having reviewed recordings of the false start, the Starters were satisfied that no riders should be reported for contravening the starting procedures.
Rounding the bend, leaving the back straight, Northanger Abbey (IRE), unplaced, lugged right- handed, resulting in Ukantango (IRE), unplaced, becoming short of room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
The winner, Newtown Rambler (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Musselburgh, on 1 February 2026, where the gelding finished eighth of twelve runners, beaten by 20¾ lengths.
Adrian Keatley’s explanation that Newtown Rambler (IRE) had benefited from the application of first time cheek pieces, combined with the reapplication of a tongue strap, and a drop back in trip, from 2 miles 4 furlongs to 2 miles, was noted and the gelding was routine tested.
