Permission was given for Aspull (GB) to wear a red hood to the start.
Inside the final furlong, the winner, Slipper Time (GB), shifted slightly right-handed at the same time as Tenbob Tommy (GB), placed third, shifted left-handed resulting in the weakening Merapi (GB), unplaced, receiving a bump, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of either Slipper Time (GB) or Tenbob Tommy (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line involving the winner, Slipper Time (GB), ridden by Rhys Clutterbuck, and Aspull (GB), placed second, ridden by Rossa Ryan.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of Slipper Time (GB) as Aspull (GB) lost no momentum as a result of the interference and Slipper Time (GB) had come from behind Aspull (GB) to win by a neck.
They therefore ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Slipper Time (GB) hung right-handed despite Clutterbuck’s best efforts to correct the gelding.
