Permission was given for Tramuntana (IRE) to wear a red hood to the start, for Wilmcote (GB) to wear a hood in the Parade Ring only and for Sixmilebridge (IRE) to go early to post; the gelding wore earplugs throughout the race.
An enquiry was held to consider interference rounding the final bend and in the early part of the home straight involving the winner, Mythical Moon (GB), ridden by Tom Bellamy, Beau Quali (FR), placed fourth, ridden by Harry Skelton, and Nowmelad (IRE), placed third, ridden by Lee Edwards.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Bellamy had presented a strong travelling Mythical Moon (GB) towards a legitimate gap between Beau Quali (FR) and Nowmelad (IRE), before Nowmelad (IRE) coursed wider around the sharp home bend resulting in Mythical Moon (GB) making contact with the hindquarters of Beau Quali (FR), which unbalanced that runner.
Thereafter, Skelton had ridden a competitive racing line when attempting to hold his position which caused Mythical Moon (GB) to be tightened for racing room over some distance and eventually make contact with the hindquarters of Nowmelad (IRE), unbalancing that gelding.
