Upon leaving the stalls, the winner, Marquis Pompeo (GB), jumped right-handed at the same time that Newfangled (IRE), unplaced, jumped left-handed causing Previse (GB) and Lunario (IRE), unplaced, to become crowded for room for several strides, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Marquis Pompeo (GB).
The winner, Marquis Pompeo (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Kempton on the 24 September 2025 where the colt finished last of ten runners, beaten by 10 ½ lengths.
It was noted that the representative of Charlie Johnston could offer no explanation for the improved form of Marquis Pompeo (GB).
The colt was routine tested.
Following the race, Rob Hornby reported that Newfangled (IRE), unplaced, jumped awkwardly from the stalls and Oliver Searle reported that Tadreeb (IRE), placed fourth, was slowly away.
