An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference approaching 2 furlongs out to the line when the winner, Almeric (GB), ridden by Oisin Murphy, interfered with King Of Cities (IRE), placed second, ridden by Ryan Moore.
The Stewards considered that the interference was accidental, in that Almeric (GB) had hung left-handed and moved King Of Cities (IRE) off its intended line, despite Murphy’s best efforts.
Furthermore they considered that Almeric (GB) had not improved its placing as it had appeared to be holding King Of Cities (IRE) all the way to the line and could not be satisfied that without interference, King Of Cities (IRE) would have finished in front of Almeric (GB) if it had been afforded an uninterrupted run to the line.
This combined with the winning margin being 1 length, the Stewards ordered the placings to remain unaltered.
