An enquiry was held into the running and riding of Saint Polo (FR), ridden by I J Power and trained by Jennie Candlish which raced in mid division throughout, before finishing a running on fifth of eleven runners beaten 29 lengths having been tenderly handled in the home straight.

The rider and the trainer’s representative were interviewed and shown recordings of the race; the Handicapper offered observations, and the Veterinary Officer examined the gelding post-race during routine testing and reported no abnormalities.

The rider stated that his instructions were to jump off, sit mid division and ride his mount to obtain the best possible placing having not seen the trip out on its previous run at Bangor-on-Dee on the 12 November 2025.

Power stated that he was happy with his position in the early stages and kept the gelding wide to obtain the better ground, however, Saint Polo (FR) had begun to hang left-handed leaving the back straight on the first circuit and had continued to do so for the remainder of the race, despite his efforts to prevent him from doing so.

Power added that Saint Polo (FR) jumped well throughout but, again, due to him hanging going into his hurdles he was unable to fully attack them and having to concentrate on getting his mount balanced and running straight.

The trainer confirmed the instructions and expressed his satisfaction with the ride.

Their explanations were noted, and Power was found in breach of Rule (G)17 and was fined £140 for failing to report at scales that Saint Polo (FR) had hung left- handed throughout.

Following the race, Nathan Moscrop reported that Nosy Neighbour (IRE), placed third, jumped novicey in the early stages of the race.
