See also » Believed 'ready to step up' after wide-margin victory Ben said the last time she was ready to step up to a mile and a half. She's a little bit generous like most of those Frankel's, she gives you a lot in the morning, and she could be keen. We spent a bit of time kind of concentrating on getting her relaxed. Ben said she was much more easy today, the hood has seemed to help her as well. She's a very nice filly who stays well and I think she should improve. She should keep improving. At the moment, a mile and a half seems like a good trip for her. She is bred to stay. She has won a maiden by eight lengths in Ireland, so she is ready to step up. We'll speak to the lads and see what they say. It is just always nice to get that maiden win. J P Murtagh, trainer
The Raceday Stewards reviewed an incident on the bend after the winning post on the first circuit, where it appeared Teoest, ridden by A.J. Slattery, ran short of room. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident early on in the home straight involving Avoca Woods (GB), ridden by L.T. McAteer and Werifesteria (USA), ridden by S. Foley, where it appeared Avoca Woods (GB) had to take a check. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. L.T. McAteer stated that he was racing wide and took a precautionary check. S. Foley stated that his filly ran very green, was wearing cheekpieces for the first time and drifted away which he corrected as quickly as possible. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards found S. Foley, was in breach of Rule 214 in that he had ridden carelessly, and having considered his clean record in this regard they suspended them for two racedays
L.T. McAteer, rider of Avoca Woods (GB), trained by Jack Foley, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that he had to take a check turning in
S. Foley, rider of Werifesteria (USA), trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was slow out of the stalls and ran green up the straight.
